Time To Start A Prayer Circle For Gossip Girl & Ringer!,

Or, we could all just start watching them more!

As we creep closer and closer to the end of this TV season, a crippling, all-consuming fear is starting to take over; a terrible sense that we might have to possibly say good-bye to some of our favorite shows. The worst news is coming out of The CW, who is gearing up to start production on a slew of new shows and may need to make room for them by axing some existing ones.

If we’re to judge the shows purely on ratings, there are four shows that are in serious danger of facing the chopping block: Nikita, newbies Hart of Dixie and Ringer, and our personally fave, Gossip Girl.

Hold it together… hold it together…

Of the latter, we’ve actually been hearing positive things from the creators and network. The buzz is since the show’s cast is under contract for one more season, that network will let it run it’s course for another year (and let’s face it: if One Tree Hill could make it for the 17 years it was on air, GG can get one more season.) But if Ringer and Dixie don’t start bringing in the eyeballs — they both average around a 0.72 -0.79 each week — then they sure as hell won’t be seeing the likes of a season two.

Bummer. We were really hoping good things for Rachel Bilson and Sarah Michelle Gellar. ESPECIALLY SMG! More people should really start tuning in to that. She’s excellent and the show might actually be getting somewhere now.

But for the love of all things juicy and couture, please don’t cancel Gossip Girl. We JUST got a glimpse of some real Dair action! Don’t take that away from us just yet!
