Danielle Steel’s Former Assistant Swipes $400K!,
Holy crap!
Kristy Watts, the former aide to Danielle Steel, stole $400,000 from the romance novelist.
Watts worked for Steel for 15 years, primarily performing financial and accounting duties. Apparently, Watts would deposit checks from Steel’s account into her own personal accounts as well as using the writer’s credit cards for her own purchases.
She has pleaded guilty to wire fraud and tax evasion.
She will be sentenced on February 4th in San Francisco.
Yikes!
You’d think Danielle would have looked at the records once in awhile and noticed that money had gone missing.
We guess when you’re making millions publishing steamy and successful novels, $400,000 doesn’t seem like much!
